MILES KANE – WINNER OF ALBUM OF THE YEAR 2013 SPONSORED BY LIVERPOOL HOPE UNIVERSITY
How did you find your Liverpool Music Awards experience?
It was a really nice night, there was the likes of Ian Broudie and others there. It was really nice to see all of them, and was so good to be home. Getting recognition back home was fantastic, it’s what you want as a musician.
What are your highlights of 2013?
Oh wow, there’s loads! I did so many good gigs, but I guess the tour round Europe. We rounded it all off at Eric’s Club in Liverpool, and did 4 shows and local press interviews, sessions. It was non stop. We were all battered and bruised by the end of it, but it was really worth it.
What did you think of the Liverpool Music Awards ceremony itself?
It was great, there was loads of new talent which is always amazing too see. There’s a lot going on at the moment, so much talent in Liverpool. I liked the hummingbirds they were really good, they deserved to win an award. And my cousins’ band “The Sundowners” were fantastic on the night, it was the first time I had seen them play live and they were great.
When can we expect some new releases from you?
Hopefully, I will have new releases this year. I am having a bit of a break at the moment, still writing all the time though. I am trying to get a new direction on the go, I want to keep churning out the tunes!
Will we be seeing you in Liverpool any time soon?
Yes I am I was actually home last weekend seeing my Mum. The next time I will be back is when we play the Olympia at the end of March. It’s meant to be a cool venue so we’re looking forward to that.
Who would your dream collaboration be with?
Jack White and Lana Del Rae, they are so talented. Jack White because I love everything he does, his work ethic is amazing, he’s always churning out amazing songs. And Marc Bolen I would have loved to collaborate with but he’s not with us any longer.
